2018/08/26 Vegetables from garden

Of course vegetables grow different every year due to weather & other factors.

This year, vegetables grow so well especially tomatoes & Japanese pumpkins.

Besides these vegetables below,

2018/08/18 The Art of Sushi Class

I taught The Art of Sushi class to who love real food from scratch. Fortunately I harvested all vegetables from garden this morning such as shiso, Japanese cucumber, turnips, fudansou, green onion, they are super fresh.

They are young couple and husband grew up home made healthy foods, so he knows real foods taste.

Especially they enjoyed fresh sashimi & Japanese cucumber which is crunchy & tasty.

He asked me “what you are eating everyday?”, then I think about what I am eating and answered “Most likely I am eating vegetables from my garden everyday, because I grew so many vegetables in my garden.”

I grow variety of tomatoes, shiso leaf/green & red, chayote, Japanese pumpkin, rhubarb, turnip, mizuna, okura, banana pepper, green pepper, trefoil, green onion, eggplant Gretel, Japanese eggplant, fudansou, black soy bean, stalk broccoli, Japanese bell pepper. Harvested last weekends.

Spaghetti Squash, I planted spaghetti squash, Japanese pumpkin, and zucchini in a same plot. Spaghetti squash is yellow color. I think this is the hybrid kind.

Tomatoes, I seeded so many kinds of tomatoes this year. I do not know which is which. Tomatoes are very slow this year.

2010/08/09 Vegetable Garden

Many vegetables are growing in my organic vegetable garden. But it is cold summer this year in US and vegetables grow slowly.

Bosnian tomatoes/my garden neighbor gave me plants. They are still green color too. My neighbor is very nice and he made this bracing strut for me.

Mint/I make mint tea and drink cold mint tea everyday. It is very refreshing and tasty in summer.

Myoga/this is Japanese herb and season in summer. It has unique refreshing flavor and adding nice little bitterness to foods.

Red shiso leaf/I used this leaf for plum pickles to add bright purple color. Also I made shiso juice too.

2010/06/11 Green Shiso & Salad Burdock

Green shiso came out in the garden from last year’s seeds and it is growing well. Green shiso is very handy if I have in the garden because I can use it so many ways.

I made sandwich for lunch using green shiso instead of butter lettuce.

Green shiso has very refreshing aroma and very good combination with coppa slice.

Salad Burdock naturally came out too. They must came out from last November’s root in the soil.

I harvested salad burdock. Only root is edible.

Just rinse it and cut into thin slice. Mix with plum & miso dressing. Burdock has crunchy texture and very tasty.

10/06/07 Pork Ribs & Fried-rice

I made pork ribs marinated with homemade miso & garlic soy sauce. This is our family’s favorite dish and very yummy.

Fried rice with dried anchovies. I added minced green shiso leaf too. Shiso leaf and dried anchovies are good combination because shiso leaf will eliminate dried anchovies’ fishy smell.
